Two dead in ‘targeted’ double homicide at hookah lounge in Hayward

Two people are dead in a hookah lounge.

According to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, an overnight shooting in Hayward left two people dead and is being investigated as a double homicide.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m., a shooting happened at a hookah lounge at the block of Mission Blvd. Two people were killed and two others were injured in a shooting that happened after a fight, according to the sheriff’s office. There is no threat to the public at this time, according to authorities.

There was a person on the ground in front of the hookah lounge who was not breathing. The victim was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital. One of the three people who came in for emergency care died at the hospital, according to two local hospitals. Two people are still in the hospital.

Asli Hookah Lounge & Smoke Shop is located at the address. The lounge has been shut down before for failing to get proper permits to sell tobacco and alcohol.

The business has been fined several times but continues to operate and remove signs from the front of the building, according to the sheriff’s office. Drivers are advised to use Montgomery Street as of 5:11 a.m. after police closed Mission Blvd.

The scene of the incident is currently being investigated by units. There are still some road closings on Mission Boulevard between cherry and grove ways.
