Elon Musk has revealed a number of new features that users of the most recent version of the Twitter app will be able to enjoy. Some of these new capabilities include the first iteration of encrypted direct messaging as well as audio and video chat.
Direct messages (DMs) that are encrypted are scheduled to be released on Thursday, and Elon Musk has vowed that they would improve “rapidly.”
“The litmus test is that I could not see your direct messages even if someone put a gun to my head,” he added. “The acid test is that I could not see your DMs.”
Encrypted DMs and global voice/video conversations are coming shortly.

The head of Twitter also mentioned that users who had the most recent version of the program will be able to direct message (DM) any message in threads and use any emoji they wanted.
Musk revealed that audio and video chat over Twitter accounts will be “coming soon,” enabling users to communicate with individuals from all around the world without the need to provide a phone number.
On Wednesday, Musk retweeted reports that WhatsApp had accessed the microphones of users’ smartphones while the app was in the background. He further stated that one should not put their faith on WhatsApp.
Musk made the announcement earlier in the week that Twitter will be removing inactive accounts that had been sitting dormant for years in order to make more handles available. Concerns were voiced by users over the fragmentation of the site and the loss of accounts belonging to individuals who had passed away.
